Hi, I’m Rebecca (She/Her),
I started my private practice in 2019 after working for over a decade in non-profit community organizations (social work and counselling roles) in the areas of homelessness, community mental health and addictions, and sexual and gender-based violence. I’ve also worked in post secondary education as a program coordinator and college professor. This experience greatly informs my practice and I’m passionate about healing on both individual and systemic levels, as they are undeniably interconnected.
I live, work, and play on unceded and unsurrendered Anishinaabe Algonquin land in what is now known as Ottawa, ON. I acknowledge the historical and on-going harm of colonialism and the particular role of my profession (Social Work) in colluding, committing and perpetuating this harm. I wrestle with the complexity of being part of this sytem while also actively working to unlearn and decolonize my practice and beyond.
Beyond my professional life, I’m also a partner and mother to two children. I’m committed to self-care for individual sustainability and collective care - when I’m not working I love listening to and playing music, moving my body (dancing, biking, skiing), and spending time in nature.
I strive to connect with the people I work with from a place of shared humanity and humility, with deep appreciation and respect.
